The New Era of Manufacturing at Century-Tywood

Century-Tywood Manufacturing has always focused on innovation and adaptability in order to compete in the ever-evolving manufacturing industry. Century-Tywood J3 Corp will continue to make changes that will evolve our capabilities and produce the best possible results for our customers. Our latest and greatest change isn’t simply a new piece of equipment – though we have plenty of those!

We recently introduced a new leader and, as a result, ushered in the next era of our business. Andrew Slifka took on his role as President and Principal at Century-Tywood in December. With his arrival, he brought years of experience in leading successful teams and a vision for the future of our business.

Under new direction, our teams will continue doing what they do best, all while thinking critically about ways we can constantly move forward as a company. And most importantly, Century-Tywood will continue to provide our customers with the valuable outcomes they’ve come to expect from us.

Improving Outcomes Through Innovation

At Century-Tywood, we’re proud of the products we’ve provided to our customers and the excellent service that turns transactions into strategic partnerships. We are constantly seeking ways to innovate, and with this new stage of our business, now is the perfect opportunity for us to evaluate our processes from within.

With new leadership comes a fresh set of eyes that can look at what we’re doing to determine what is going well and what we can improve upon – and with greater productivity comes improved efficiency for our customers.

Making Ongoing Investments in Technology

As technology has advanced, so has the custom sheet metal fabrication industry. Our team at Century-Tywood is committed to staying on the cutting edge of manufacturing. This means modernizing our processes to keep up with the evolving industry and purchasing the highest quality machines we can get our hands on.

Advanced machinery and automation lead to greater results for our customers in the following ways:

New era of manufacturing
  • Faster lead times: Our top-of-the-line equipment produces high-quality parts efficiently, getting precision fabricated components out to customers with quick turnaround times.

  • Increased accuracy: Greater machining capabilities allow us to fabricate parts with fewer machine setups across multiple production runs.

  • Decreased costs: Advanced manufacturing technology leads to cost savings on our end by means of decreased labor costs and waste reduction through Lean Manufacturing. We pass these savings along to our customers to price our parts fairly and competitively.

Investment in automation and machining technology isn’t a one-and-done action at Century-Tywood. As the industry evolves, so will our processes, as we continue to remain forward-thinking on all fronts.

Constantly Prioritizing Quality

We have a lot to be proud of here at Century-Tywood, but our crowning achievement is the meticulous approach we take regarding quality assurance

As we’ve ushered in our new era, we’ve cemented our ongoing commitment to top-notch quality. We maintain extremely low rejection rates, at less than 0.1%. We have honed our quality process and we will continue to strive for exceptional quality and accuracy in the years to come.

Streamlining Our Internal Procedures

We’ve worked hard to improve our own operations. One of our major initiatives we’d like to share involves hiring highly qualified people. By paying our team members competitive wages and offering them adequate training, we are increasing our in-house productivity.

As we’ve improved our own internal efficiency, we’ve been able to create shorter lead times for our customers. What’s more, streamlining our operations has opened up some capacity on our end, so it’s a great time for customers to request a quote!

Collaborative Problem-Solving

Collaboration at Century-Tywood isn’t simply the trickling down of information from our leadership staff to our team members. It means working together in and across teams to determine best practices, as well as in conjunction with our external partners and our customers themselves.

In-House Collaboration

From fabrication to inspection to secondary operations and so on, a single part might go through five different departments. Internal collaboration is necessary to meeting a customer’s quality demands and getting the job done in a timely manner.

Collaboration with Our Manufacturing Partners

We handle a number of services in-house, but we outsource finishing operations such as painting and plating services. We have strong connections with preferred external partners, and we maintain an open line of communication with these outside resources to ensure we are exceeding our customers’ expectations regarding quality and timeliness.

Collaboration with Our Customers

At Century-Tywood, we stress the importance of making sure the parts leaving our shop are precisely what our customers need. Our quoting software provides a secure platform for our engineers to collaborate with OEMs, offering solutions to reduce unnecessary costs and improve components’ machinability. As a result of this level of collaboration and attention to detail, we can be a trusted partner rather than just another vendor.

Century-Tywood, Your Trusted Precision Sheet Metal Fabricator

Things are a little different at Century-Tywood, but we continue to be a trusted parts manufacturer for OEMs seeking high-quality sheet metal fabrication services from engineering to electro-mechanical assemblies and everything in between.
